ASUS F555UA-EH71 Review – Laptop under 600$

High performance coupled with low cost is what every user aspires for. It is usually difficult to find a system with both of these features ; ASUS F555UA-EH71 has won the heart of users with an efficient Core i7 CPU processor and 8GB of RAM under 600$. As its processor offers ample processing speed to perform routine tasks, this laptop makes some compromises by reducing the resolution to a smaller extent. If you are in need of higher processing power, F555UA is the one to which you need to pay special attention to. This laptop scores 4322 points in terms of CPU benchmark which is a fairly good score for exceptional processing.

With decent specs and powerful performance, this laptop could definitely appeal to many.

Higher processing power is the distinguishing feature of this laptop – dual core CPU with 4 MB cache, 4 threads and 64 bit architecture. This is a really formidable CPU conceived for routine tasks. It also stakes on its 8 GB RAM module that runs at  a frequency of 1600 MHz. However, you cannot upgrade to better memory options, and you would need to be satiated with just 8 GB memory.  This memory is ample for most users, enabling you to run different programs simultaneously without any concern.

It is fuelled by Intel HD Graphics 520 which is a fairly good discrete graphics card. However, if you wish to play graphically demanding games, you might be disappointed. ASUS F555UA-EH71 comes with an elegant concentric-circle design that gives an ambiance similar to a vinyl record. It is sure to garner interest from the users when light rebounds off of it elegantly. The laptop’s silver surface has an immaculate mesh touch, and it is also able to reduce the heating efficiently.

ASUS F555UA-EH71It features a fairly gorgeous design, with black concentric circles on the exterior designed to simulate the appearance of brushed aluminum which has recently become the norm in superior laptops. Though the material doesn’t appear to be  inferior, it is not a real replacement for the top-notch metal design.

Asus F555UA weighs nearly 4.8 pounds, which is less than most of its peers and it is easy to carry the laptop wherever you go.  Resolution is on the lower side compared to the mainstream laptops, as the panel resolution is only 1366 x 768. The unique USP of this laptop is its Splendid Technology display utility app, which renders an Eye Care option that helps to radiate less blue light. User could also make use of the Vivid mode for superior color. The distinguishing feature of this laptop is the Core i7 processor, which you cannot find in a budget laptop like this.

Its display could radiate nearly 223 nits (unit of brightness), which ensures that one could view the screen without straining the eyes. Viewing angles is also descent for ASUS F555UA-EH71. Typing on the keyboard is bit clumsy and it is not user-friendly as one could expect it to be. The laptop’s 4.13 x 2.94-inch button less touchpad rendered a robust feel to every click and could precisely trail the input as you navigate across the laptop. Faster detection of three-finger Windows navigation gestures is also a plus point for this stylish laptop.

Speech Mode in AudioWizard utility render the voices unblemished as well. AudioWizard provides couple of presets for songs, films, games etc. Speech is the perfect setting to fit all circumstances. Coupled with the formidable i7 processor are features like 8GB RAM and 1TB 5,400-rpm hard drive which gives ample storage requirements. You may open multiple tabs, try streaming video, watch a movie and still the laptop would remain intact.

ASUS F555UA-EH71This laptop is able to stay cool even if you are working on graphically demanding videos. User could connect to a range of gadgets as there are plenty of input ports and an optical drive available in the system. There are a slew of connectivity options like Ethernet, VGA (Video graphic array), HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface)ports, two USB 3.0 ports and a Kensington security lock slot. It also comes with an SD card reader, headphone jack, USB 2.0 port and DVD-CD-RW tuck elegantly on the right side. Wireless connectivity can be accomplished through  802.11AC Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0, enabling the user to link to a wide range of the state-of-the-art wireless hotspots and smart gadgets.

Battery life is bit on the weaker side, as it could last for less than 6 hours if you are doing basic web surfing. Asus packs couple of advantageous utilities on the F555UA, comprising of HiPost utility ( used in file sharing with Android gadgets), the On-Screen Display application to tweak on-screen notifications and Splendid display app for dropping blue light. Some of the other goodies that come with this laptop are iHeartRadio, Netflix and TripAdvisor. It also offers Music Maker Jam, leading program to create songs. However, to make maximum advantage from this application, you may need to make some payment. ASUS F555UA-EH71 also packs GiftBox app, which provides some concession like 20% reduction in Adobe Creative Cloud and 6 free months of Evernote Premium.
